Climbing for Success

Helping our Children Reach the Summit!

Hamtramck High School teacher,  Mr. John Rostek isn’t your average educator. As a matter of fact, he isn’t your average anything! Mr. Rostek believes in achieving personal goals and is instilling that belief in his students. He has a personal goal to climb the seven summits of the world and he’d like to share that goal with students of Hamtramck Public Schools.

In June 2010, Mr. Rostek climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. In June 2011, he will climb Mt. McKinley and he will take the students of HPS with him!

As he climbs Mt. McKinley, Mr. Rostek hopes to raise $1 for every foot climbed or $20,320 for the students of HPS! He is leading the community in establishing a student activities fund. This fund will offer HPS students, Early Childhood through Grade 12, more opportunities to engage in extracurricular activities.

A product of the HPS himself, Mr. Rostek lived in Hamtramck for 30 years, and has taught at HHS for 16. He continues to do all that he can, partnering with others, to enhance the learning experience of our students.
