I am excited to be a part of the Hamtramck Public School District Team! The following information has been shared with all stakeholders in August of 2016 and I am proud to say that we are heading in the right direction!
As you know the data will guide many of the conversations this year. I will be looking at multiple and varied data (state and local assessments) that will be analyzed to: identify ALL ELLs
identify levels of support for the ELLs
share that data with all stakeholders
determine priorities in the district goals
implement professional development for staff in the focus areas
use the data to guide instruction
Goals for Staff Professional Growth Professional development is a key component for staff support. Alignment is crucial so I will review each buildings’ SIP as well as the District SIP to support the PD efforts. The following will be what I would like to share or build upon if already implemented: The professional development will be centered around The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP). This model is research based and caters to the ELLs’ academic needs.

A huge district implementation will be the Professional Learning Communities. This is another great addition because it offers staff to be a part of the shared decision process.
